About Quethiock
Quethiock Parish lies in the very rural heartland of South East Cornwall away from the main roads and tourist areas. It is situated approximately 7 miles from the towns of Liskeard, Callington and Saltash.
The seven members of the Parish Council represent less than 400 households making this one of the smallest parishes in Cornwall by population which is dispersed over a wide area. Quethiock village is the main centre with a third of the population and there are 3 smaller villages, Blunts, Trehunist and Tilland.

The character of the Parish is based mainly on cattle and sheep farming and many of the farm buildings have been converted into housing so providing a scattering of small hamlets.
St. Hugh’s is the parish church of Quethiock (visit the St. Hugh’s website). The dedication is to St. Hugh of Lincoln, a popular, newly canonised saint in the 13th and 14th centuries. However, the church itself is 12th century and the site no doubt of religious significance for a few hundred years before that.
An Aerial Overview Of Our Parish
We have to thank Kevin Gregory for these wonderful drone footage videos of Quethiock, Blunts & Trehunist – and one of our (now retired) Councillors, Tim Lynch, for collating the videos.
In addition, we now have our own YouTube channel where we can host these and any additional footage or video content that may be of general interest to the Parish or relevant to council business. Do visit the channel and hit the subscribe button ! If you have any suggestions for such content – please email the Clerk.
The Parish Council
Historically, parish councils were the main instrument of local government, but reforms since the latter part of the nineteenth century have reduced their functions considerably. Nowadays, their principal function is to manage a limited range of services local to their parish, and to act as a link between the views and concerns of the local community, Cornwall Council and other local agencies, and if necessary with central government.
Quethiock Parish Council manages certain services ( see “Services” page ) and it also distributes information from outside the Parish from such sources as Cornwall Council, the Police, or social, charitable or medical organisations. Its meetings also provide an opportunity to air issues and to discuss matters of importance to the parish.
